If you're a fan of Indian food then look no further than masala chicken curry. With its blend of aromatic spices and tender chicken, this dish is sure to become a family favorite. It's a spicy, flavorful dish that's sure to satisfy your taste buds.
Recipe: Spicy Masala Chicken Curry (serves 3-4)
Ingredients:
- 1 kg of chicken (preferably with bones)
- 4 tablespoons of vegetable oil
- 2 medium onions, finely chopped
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 1-inch ginger, minced
- 2 green chilies, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon cumin powder
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1 teaspoon garam masala powder
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup of water
- Fresh coriander leaves, chopped, for garnishing
Cooking instructions:
- Wash the chicken thoroughly and cut it into medium-sized pieces. Set it aside.
- Heat the oil in a large pan or kadhai over medium heat. Add the onions and fry them until they turn golden brown.
- Add the garlic, ginger, and green chilies to the pan and fry for a few more minutes.
- Add the chopped tomatoes to the pan and cook until they are soft and mushy.
- Add the cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt to the pan. Stir everything together and let it cook for a few more minutes until the spices are fragrant.
- Add the chicken pieces to the pan and mix well with the masala. Fry the chicken for 5-7 minutes, until it starts to brown.
- Add a cup of water to the pan and mix well. Cover the pan and let it cook on low heat for 25-30 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and tender.
- Once the chicken is cooked, garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or naan bread.
